Brass bands always bring the fun. A brass band with an accordion and a Balkan influence doubles the fun level. New York-based Raya Brass Band presides over a gleeful culture collision of the New Orleans brass band sound and lively Balkan folk music with some rock, jazz and other random sounds tossed into the jambalaya.
With sax, trumpet, tuba, accordion, and percussion, the quintet, who bill themselves as “The Balkan Sound of New York,” released their second album This Train Is Now, late last year. The train is on the road, and you can catch this ridiculously infectious band at Mahall’s. Cleveland funky rockers We The People open.
Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door.
