Catch a screening of the documentary Defiant Requiem, directed by Doug Schultz, which “tells the story of the Nazi concentration camp Terezin, where, led by imprisoned conductor Rafael Schächter, the inmates gained access to Verdi’s Requiem Mass. After learning it from memory, they performed it for their German imprisoners as an act of defiance.”
After the film, an 80-piece choir and orchestra will perform Dies Irae from Requiem. Prepare to be moved.
