Burlesque Performers Remember the Roxy @BeachlandCle

Fri 5/16 @ 9PM

Cleveland-based burlesque artist Bella Sin, whose troupe Le Femme Mystique just celebrated its tenth anniversary, has presented some of the most entertaining and professional burlesque shows we’ve seen in Cleveland. She’s given Clevelanders the opportunity to see some incredible performers from around the country — and even overseas.

Perhaps one of the reasons her shows are so well-rounded is that she’s also a burlesque historian, who has delved extensively into the genre’s past. She’s studied Cleveland’s legendary Roxy, which was located on Short Vincent Street downtown before it closed in the ’70s. One of her projects and passions is placing a historical marker at that site.

To draw attention to that campaign and to raise the needed money, she’s been presenting her annual The Roxy Remembered showcase. This year’s 4th annual show, at the Beachland Ballroom, brings back Detroit’s Lushes LaMoan (pictured) to head the bill. Sin herself will perform, along with troupe member Doll Bambino, top banana Sonshine La Ray, and Britain’s Abby Downton. Xander Lovecraft will present his sideshow, and the short documentary The Rustbelt Bump and Grind will screen before the live show starts.

General admission tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Reserved seats are $20, and V.I.P. tickets are $30.
