Dylan Baldi started Cloud Nothings in 2009 while he was a student at Case Western Reserve. Originally a solo project recorded in his parents’ house, the music started to get attention online so he formed an actual band.
That band has attracted a lot of positive attention, first with its self-titled debut in 2011, then with 2012’s Attack on Memory and Live at the Grog Shop, and now with their new album Here and Nowhere Else, released last month. They gradually replaced their early sparse lo-fi sound with her heavier and more aggressive one.
Baldi has relocated to Paris, but he’s still back in Cleveland a lot and still tells people when they ask that the band’s from Cleveland. And before taking off for a European tour and some major festival dates this summer, they’ll be stopping in a Mahall’s 20 Lanes for a gig that will undoubtedly showcase some of the new material. Cruelster and Mothcock open.
Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show.
