The Cleveland Botanical Garden’s Green Corps feeds the region’s urban farming movement at the roots: it exposes teenagers to farming and gives them training in sustainable growing at its five “learning farms,” while teaching them skills like team work, community engagement, and entrepreneurship. The program hires 70-75 young people each season to work about 20 hours a week.
And all that produce they grow is available to the public. The kids also run weekly markets that not only offer their products to the community but also offers the community a way to help fund the program. The markets all kick off this week and run through the week of 10/14.
