Cleveland’s Intra is one of those odd bands — usually found in prog rock and psychedelic niche scenes — kept alive in a fashion through the decades, usually by one intrepid and determined musician, gaining underground adulation from collectors and zines/bloggers for their sporadic output.
As with Intra, it’s not that they are shamefully without honor in their hometowns. It’s just that they’re usually not an active part of their local music scenes, instead courting that handful of fans around the world that is into what they do. Led by guitarist Mato Tomorowitz, Intra released only one EP during their initial run from the mid ’70s until the early ’90s. A collection of their tracks was released by Texas’ Shroom Productions in 1999. Another CD The Glory of the Imperfect emerged around 2010.
But now Intra is poking its head out of its hidey-hole to share a new release with the public at the Beachland Tavern. Curious fans of ’70s prog rock might want to check this out. Hoodeech opens.
