Thu 5/9
By sometime this summer, there will be new business on St. Clair and 65th in a storefront next to the Slovenian National Home. That’s where Nicole McGee, long a proponent of “upcycled” art through her company Plenty Underfoot, will be opening the Upcycle Parts Shop.
The shop will sell recycled material for crafting — odds and ends that someone may have discarded that fuel someone else’s creative imagination. It’s a perfect tie-in for Sustainable Cleveland 2019’s theme of the year: 2014 is the year of Zero Waste.
Right now, the buildout is just starting — using recycled materials of course. But on Thursday May 9, the shop hosted a neighborhood open house, with activities taking place in the space and out front on the sidewalk on a beautiful spring evening. Kids and grownups ate pizza, played around with craft materials, chalked the sidewalk, and made wildflower seed bombs.
