Wed 5/21 @ 8:30PM
The Larchmere Porchfest will take place for the 6th year on Sat 6/21. It’s an afternoon and evening packed with music — 30 bands and musicians playing on porches located on side residential side streets that intersect with Larchmere Boulevard, as well as in some of the bars. Restaurants and other businesses on Larchmere.
This week Porchfest is hosting a pair of events to give people a little taste of what they’ll hear in June, as well as raise money to cover the expenses of the free event.
On Thu 5/16, vocalist/songwriter/musician Morgan Mecaskey, whose rich, flavorful music covers ground from introspective folk-style musings to full-on blow-you-away rock & roll, will play at Felice Urban Café as a fundraiser for Porchfest. Tickets are $20.
On Wed 5/21, The Porchfest Road Show arrives at the Beachland Tavern, giving music fans the chance to check out three very different local acts, each of whom excels in their particular genre: song –oriented roots-folk ensemble Oldboy (pictured), summery reggae/world music group Gato’s Gullah Gumbo, and Kent’s Scarlet & the Harlots, whose bluesy rock has overtones of the classic rock era of the late ’60s and early ’70s.
Admission is $5.
