Fans of Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, look forward all year to their return to the Baroque Barn with their program of Appalachian folk music.

They’ll have a special treat this year. The group’s artistic director and harpsicordist Jeannette Sorrell has conceived a brand new program called Glory on the Mountain: An Appalachian Journey.

The raw material is the same as the beloved and popular Come to the River program, with fiddle tunes, ballads, and folk dancing, demonstrating how the British and African influences came together in the hills of the American southeast to create a distinctive music.

In addition to Sorrell, soloists include soprano Amanda Powell, tenor Ross Hauck, fiddler Susanna Perry Gilmore, hammered dulcimer player Tina Bergmann, and Kathie Stewart on wooden flutes.

All performances take place at the Baroque Barn in Hunting Valley, except the Sun 6/15 afternoon performance at Huntington Playhouse in Bay Village, the Sat 6/21 concerts at the Bath UCC Church in Bath, and the Sun 6/22 performance at the Geauga Lyric Theatre in Chardon.

Tickets range from $17-$50; students are $10.
