Cleveland’s Spyder Stompers & Sister Sugar Pie Perform at Nighttown

Thu 6/12 @ 8PM

The Spyder Stompers are relatively new band on the Cleveland music scene, forming a little more than a year ago, to play traditional American music — a bit of blues, a bit of ragtime, a bit of string-band music. But the musicians are familiar to anyone the slightest bit familiar with the area’s folk/jazz/blues scene: vocalist/guitarists Kevin Richards and Jack DiAlesandro, and bassist Ray DeForest.  They’re regulars at the Barking Spider, and Richards is the founder and executive director of the educational group Roots of American Music.

When the group plays at Nighttown, they’ll be joined by “Sister Sugar Pie,” aka Sheela Das, the associate director of ROAM. She’s a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist whose mastery spans a breathtakingly wide range of musical genres. She’ll be toting her ukulele.

Tickets are $10.
