PechaKucha is back for the second time this year in still another setting — the deck between the Ernst & Young Tower lobby and the Aloft Hotel in the East Bank of the Flats.
What is PechaKucha, you ask? It’s an event that started in Japan over a decade ago and has since spread around the world. Each features about 10-12 speakers, each of whom delivers a presentation of 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. The presentations can range from abstract ideas a la TED to simple descriptions of organizations or projects. This one will be Cleveland’s 22nd PechaKucha Night.
This year’s previous PechaKucha at the City Club of Cleveland was heavy on the latter, with speakers from organizations like the NAACP and the Dettrick Medical Museum at Case Western Reserve talking about their work. This time the crowd will hear from artists like Bridget Ginley and Hillary Gent, Stephanie Sheldon, founder of the Cleveland Flea, East Bank Flats developer Adam Fishman, and Dan Brown, described as a “composting guru.” There’s a complete list is the Facebook page.
Doors and bars open at 7pm for socializing and networking; the presentations start at 8:20pm. PechaKucha Night is free and open to the public.
