If you haven’t been down to see the new, improved Edgewater Beach Park, tonight’s a great time to do so. The Cleveland Metroparks, which took over the lakefront parks starting this season, has started a new Thursday night event there, with music, food trucks, and family activities.
And the music tonight is provided by one of the area’s more exciting bands, Akron’s Shivering Timbers. The trio is fronted by the husband-and-wife team of Jayson and Sarah Benn. He plays guitar; she plays the big upright bass. Both sing, but it’s Sarah’s vocals that snap, crackle and pop with strains of folk, country, blues, rock and jazz and her energy and charisma that provides the gravitational force for the band’s well-honed music.
Shivering Timbers have two albums under their belt, with tunes that range from ballads to raging rockers to playful songs the kids will love. Come prepared to dance. There’ll also be yoga, beach volleyball, paddleboarding, and nature activities.
It’s free.
