Young Akron folk-rock quartet Take Off Charlie cites both classic and contemporary rock influences ranging from the Beatles, David Bowie, Nick Drake and Led Zeppelin to the Strokes, Bon Iver, Death Cab for Cutie, and the Black Keys.
The results seem to meet in the middle: their music tends to resemble ’80s/90s college rock with lilting melodies, lightly rocking tempos, and earnest vocals.
You can check them out when they release their debut album at Musica, with Dynamo Love and Kaleidoscopic ClusterFunk opening.
Admission is $10.
