One of everybody’s favorite outdoor summer parties kicks off its summer tonight. Wade Oval Wednesdays offers a dozen evenings to hang out at that open space at University Circle ringed by the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Botanical Garden, and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, get some food from one of the vendors there, and enjoy three hours of music.
The opener features Coast2Coast (pictured), a band that performs an always-popular mix of Motown and R&B dance tunes. The rest of the schedule includes several more cover bands but also bands that play original Irish music (Marys Lane 6/25), reggae (Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band, 7/2), and Americana (Hey Mavis, 8/27). There’s also Latin music (Son Gitano, 7/30), big band/swing (Red Light Roxy, 8/6), and even a concoction of bluegrass and classical music called the Cleveland Bluegrass Orchestra, which includes members of the Cleveland Orchestra (8/13).
Make it down for one or all dozen, because they’re free. Find a full schedule here.
