Thu 6/19 – Sun 6/22

Despite recent events, Cleveland’s artists and art professionals are continuing to provide the community with high-quality art and events.

There is so much going on this weekend that organizers are starting Thursday with events through Sunday. We’ve compiled a list of this weekend’s can’t miss events.

Everything starts this Thursday with the Big Reveal of Round 1 of SPACES’ TAG collaborative exhibition of works by Jason Eppink and Thu Tran. The show will feature a number of Big Reveal receptions as the artists continue to collaborate together. Guest DJ, B-ron Lee will be fusing sounds throughout the evening as well.

Friday features two equally exciting events. Start your evening at the opening reception of Transformation at the Morgan Conservatory. This juried exhibition of works on paper features some of the regions highest quality works on paper. The show features work by artists living within 75 miles of the conservatory.

Afterwards, continue your night at 78th Street Studios‘ Third Friday. June’s Third Friday event features receptions for a number of new and continuing exhibitions.

On the first floor, Michelle Murphey’s Micro Art Space features All Motion is Relative, a solo exhibition of work by New England-based artist Robin Mandel. The Cleveland West Art League will host an opening reception for Intersections: New Works by Brian Castellani and Dante Rodriguez. Tregoning and Company is exhibiting Recent Works by Sean McConner.

E11even 2 hosts How Much is Stan Wirth — a group exhibition of local artists commenting on our society’s definitons of value — inspired by real Clevelander Stan Wirth.

Continuing up the stairs, the second floor features Lissa Bockrath’s Unbroken at Kenneth Paul Lesko’s gallery. ARTneo (formerly the Cleveland Artists Foundation inside Lakewood’s Beck Center) presents a pop-up exhibition of Bold and Brilliant pop portraits by Phyllis Sloane.

Hedge Gallery hosts an opening reception for Light. This show features photography by Daniel Mainzer.

On the third floor, Survival kit will cap off your evening with a reception for a very special, site-specific installation covering the gallery’s massive walls. It’s fitting for Natalie Lanese’s Camofleur to be placed at the end of Cleveland’s “art maze,” because its sure to be the grand finale on a very special evening.

On Saturday, get to Lakewood early for the Clifton Art and Music Fest. Over 40,000 guests are expected for this annual juried festival.

End your art-filled weekend with a special book signing, film screening and exhibition featuring Cleveland Art Prize award-winning architects at 1point618 in Gordon Square. Local authors James and Nina Gibans will be signing copies of their new book, Cleveland Goes Modern: Designs from 1930-1970. The book provides a unique glimpse into Cleveland’s historic architecture and design legacy by featuring a dozen local architects.

This week is a great opportunity to celebrate our city’s rich cultural landscape – both currently and historically. Don’t miss it!
