Cleveland Heights has become quite the mecca for foodies in the last few years. While it’s always had some popular eating spots that drew patrons from around the region, their number has increases with additions such as Rockefeller’s and Doug Katz’s Katz Club Diner. And many significant people in the local food movement, including Katz and Greenhouse Tavern’s Jonathan Sawyer are residents.
So it’s not surprising the Friends of the Cleveland Library, FutureHeights, and Reaching Heights are promoting the community by promoting its food scene. The groups are hosting the Heights Foodies Panel Discussion & Wine Tasting. It’s aimed a new and potential residents of the community, but anyone who is interested in what Cleveland Heights has to offer is welcome.
The panel discussion will feature Sawyer, Tommy Fello (pictured) of Coventry Road institution Tommy’s, and the owners of two newer establishments, both on Lee Road — Sweetie Fry’s Keith Logan, and Wine Spot owner Adam Flesicher. They’ll talk about what they love about Cleveland Heights and, of course, food.
The event, which takes place at the Wine Spot, is free. If you’d like to do some wine tasting, that’s $10. Drinks will also be available to purchase. To RSVP or get more information call 216-932-3600, ext. 234 or email friends@heightslibrary.org.

Genesis. Who remembers that hippie veggie restaurant in University Circle called Genesis? They had a sandwich — sauerkraut something goodness that haunts me to this day. I would love to have the recipe.
