Holden Arboretum’s summer concert series enters its fifth year of family-friendly concerts with one that’s especially for the kids.
Northeast Ohio-based Chip Richter (pictured) has made a career of playing schools, churches, and libraries, engaging children with his interactive music. His latest album, The Dream Tree, his seventh, is due out next month. Get a sneak preview at Holden Arboretum’s display garden.
Bring blankets, chairs and a picnic, if you like. Food and drink will also be for sale. If it rains, concerts take place in the Corning Visitor Center.
Admission after 5pm is $5 for nonmembers. Members and those under 18 are free. Or you can come spend the day and stay for the show.
The rest of the lineup is a bit more adult-without-children-friendly, although savvy kids might enjoy these acts too. Here’s the schedule:
6/24: Rachel & the Beatnik Playboys (alt-country/Americana)
7/1: Northcoast Jazz Collective
7/8: Haywire (rockabilly)
7/15: Cellocentric (instrumental jazz/folk/classical)
7/22: Blues Chronicles
7/29: North Coast Winds (classical)
8/5: Cleveland Institute of Music (classical)
