Preview Upcycle Parts Shop at Open Studio

Fri 7/11 @ 5:30-7:30PM

Nicole McGee’s company, Plenty Underfoot, has been a major catalyst for the upcycling movement in Cleveland — recycling found material as art and crafts projects.

In the past year, she’s been working with the St. Clair Superior Community Development Corporation on Upcycle St. Clair, a community revitalization project with the arts as a key component.

Anyone who has talked to her in the last year has probably heard her bubble over about her plans for the Upcycle Parts Shop, a creative reuse center selling castoff stuff to artists and crafters and providing opportunities to learn how to make new stuff from old stuff.

She’s been saying “June,” and she’s not that far off, opening her doors to the public for the first time the second week of July. To give people — kids AND adults — a taste of creative reuse, the event is an open studio/open crafting session where visitors can come, see what kind of things they have and try their hand at making something at the craft bar.

The shop is located next to the Slovenian National Home on St. Clair at E. 64th Street. The event is free.
