The Mechanic Street House Concerts, taking place in the living room of a musically savvy Ohio City couple, are known for unearthing intriguing acts. Given the setting those are often acts that reward careful listening, with outstanding musicianship, nuanced vocals, and well-crafted songs.
They sometimes snap up performers when they need to book a quick fill-in gig in this area. That’s the case with Dawn Landes and her band, returning to their New York base after playing a gig with the Old 97s in Landes’ hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
She’s an experienced producer and recording engineer in addition to being a singer-songwriter with five full-length albums to her credit, including the new Bluebird. They cover not only somewhat familiar bases like folk, rock and pop but even ’60s-style French chanteuse music.
