While the Gregory Porter show at the Ohio Theatre at 6 is sold out — thanks to a free ticket giveaway by the Cleveland Foundation which purchases all the tickets — there are still tickets to the two other Tri-C JazzFest shows happening tonight at PlayhouseSquare.
Veteran jazz guitarist and composer John Scofield, age 62, joins force with 28-year-old New Orleans musician Trombone Shorty, who’s steeped in funk, hip-hop, pop and New Orleans brass band music. That’s a collaboration sure to produce some interesting musical results. That’s at the Palace Theatre at 7:15 pm. Tickets are $35-$55.
Then at 9:30pm, New York-bred Puerto Rican pianist Eddie Palmieri (pictured) brings his expansive take on salsa music to the Ohio Theatre. Tickets are $30-$50.
Before, after and between shows, you can grab a bite at one of the food trucks that will be parked at PlayhouseSquare or enjoy some free music on the U.S. Bank Plaza. At 5:45, Tri-C President Dr. Alex Johnson will offer a welcome, and then musicians and Parade the Circle puppets will lead a New Orleans-style procession through Playhouse Square.
