“Brahms Not Bombs” Commemorates Hiroshima at Nighttown

Wed 8/6 @ 7:30PM

It’s been an annual tradition for local classical musicians, including members of the Cleveland orchestra, to play their PAND (Performers and Artists for Nuclear Disarmament) every August to commemorate the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima — August 6, 1945 — the first time an atomic bomb was dropped, killing thousands of civilians.

This year, the Cleveland Peace Action Education Fund is presenting the concert dubbed “Brahms Nor Bombs” at Nighttown. Needless to say, the evening will feature music by Brahms including his String Quartet No. 2, his horn trio, and songs for soprano and piano. It will also include Hungarian folk music and acclaimed local actress Dorothy Silver (pictured) reading poetry written by the late Cleveland poet Daniel Thompson.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. You can buy them online here.
