This week’s entry in the tour of the world that is the Ohio City Stages series comes via Bahia, Brazil. BaianaSystem features guitarist Robertinho Barretto and vocalist Russo Passapusso, long with percussionist Wilton Batata and bass player/producer Mercelo Seco, performing music influenced by the carnival sounds of their native region, as well as by Jamaican and African music. Add the electronic enhancements of DJ João Meirelles, and you have a sound that reflects the eclectic, melting pot nature of Brazil.
The concert, sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art, takes place on an outdoor stage adjacent to the Transformer Station.
