Dobro Wizard Jerry Douglas to Play @KentStage

Sat 8/2 @ 8PM

Jerry Douglas is a musicians’ musician whose mastery of his chosen instrument — dobro — is pretty much unchallenged. And though dobro is generally associated with country (and country-rock) and Douglas has played with a number of country/bluegrass ensembles (most notably Alison Krauss’ Union Station), he’s the go-to guy for artists of any genre when they want to add the instrument’s distinctive sound to their recordings.

His online discography includes nearly 800 albums and warns that it’s not complete. Among the artists who have utilized his services are Lyle Lovett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Ray Charles, Chris Hillman, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntire, Guy Clark, Bela Fleck, John Oates and, as they say, the list goes on.

And he’s someone northeast Ohio can claim as its own: he was born in Warren.

He’s a player that lovers of country and bluegrass in particular won’t want to miss when he performs at the Kent Stage.

Tickets are $31-$36.
