Enjoy a Summer Evening in Hunting Valley @CWRUFarm

Thu 8/7 @ 5-8PM

Thu 9/4 @ 5-8PM

Case Western Reserve University’s farm, a 400-acre property in Hunting Valley, has provided a recreational space for students and others associated with the university for decades with its variety of lush, well-preserved terrains.

But it’s only in the last five years that it’s begun to grow food served on campus in designated growing areas. Students are among the staff and volunteers who provide the labor to produce vegetables, herbs, berries, mushrooms, and honey. It’s a research farm that, while it’s not certified organic, uses organic growing methods. And it runs a CSA program so that those who don’t study, teach or work on campus can enjoy the farm’s bounty too.

For those who’ve been curious about the farm, it hosts First Thursdays @The Farm over the summer.  You can bring a picnic to eat while listening to musicians affiliated with the university. There’s free yoga, crafts for kids, educational talks, a chance to tour the gardens and learn about what they’re growing and how, or just take a hike in the forest.

It’s free. Go here for more information about the farm.
