Veggie U is a nonprofit program that goes into northeast Ohio classrooms to teach kids that there’s more to eating than fast food chains. Its goal is to educate students about how food is grown to give them more awareness of what they eat.
The Veggie U Food and Wine Celebration: Taste of the World at the downtown Pura Vida restaurant and culinary training center raised money for the program. A dozen area chefs prepared samplings of signature dishes; local wine, beer, coffee, and juice vendors offered accompanying beverages, and Mitchell’s scooped out ice cream to top it off. Guests had an opportunity to wander through the kitchens that are part of Tri-C’s Hospitality Management training program, listen to a couple of jazz ensembles, and participate in a silent auction.
