PHOTOSTREAM: Summer in the City @Rock_Hall

Wed 7/16

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s annual Summer in the City concert series kicked off with an all-local lineup, put together in cooperation with Cleveland’s Cellar Door Productions.

The Pleasure Leftists, with their retro ’80s post-punk sound fueled by tiny Haley Morris’ giant-sized wail, got the evening started. They were followed by the six-piece Seafair, whose thick sound featuring cello, violin and the keyboards of lead singer Chayla Hope, sounded great on the Rock Hall’s outdoor plaza.

Lamont “Bim” Thomas brought the ragged bluesy indie rock he plays under the name Obnox, playing as a two-piece with drummer Roseanna Safos. Finally, NIGHTS — yet another female-fronted group — closed the evening with music that’s both heavy and dreamy.

The series continues with heavy rockers Reignwolf and Cleveland blues-rock quartet Thaddeus Anna Greene on Wed 7/23; the flamboyant Har Mar Superstar and Cleveland psych-rock band Nowhere on Wed 8/13; and Nashville’s four-guitar blitz Diarrhea Planet and Cleveland’s tuneful pop rockers Herzog on Wed 8/27.

All the concerts are free.
