It was a whole new Tri-C JazzFest this year, with all the concerts packed into three days centered around PlayhouseSquare. New this year too was an outdoor stage on U.S. Bank Plaza at East 14th and Euclid, where musicians in a variety of genres played from 3pm-midnight Friday and Saturday.
Among the artists playing on Saturday were young trumpeter Dominick Farinacci, originally from Cleveland but now living in New York; Red Light Roxy, a group of the area’s top jazz musicians doing a ’40s style thing; and Akron neo-soul ensemble Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites, who closed down the festival.
Valerie Salstrom of Get Hep Swing was also on hand, leading the dancing on the checkboard dance floor.
