Lakewood High School is home to two Viktor Schreckengost masterpieces.
Join the campaign to restore and preserve these two works of art. Join the Save the Schreckengosts Midsummer Night Celebration for an evening of libations and entertainment provided by the LHS jazz ensemble in a gorgeous environment. All proceeds will benefit the Save the Schreckengosts campaign, chaired by Viktor’s widow Gene Schreckengost and internationally known sculptor and former president of CIA, David Deming. Tickets will be available at the door at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Early Settler (affectionately known as Johnny Appleseed) can be seen on the exterior wall of the Lakewood Civic Auditorium. The second mural, the Great Lakes mural, is installed in the soon to be demolished L Room. Both murals need to be retouched and restored for all the enjoy.
