The Beat Uptown Livens @MOCACleveland Outdoor Plaza

Thu 7/24 @ 6PM

There are so many summer outdoor concert series now, old and new, that somehow The Beat Uptown escaped our notice. It takes place on the plaza alongside the new MOCA building at Mayfield and Euclid over Thursday evening.

A joint promotion of MOCA, Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Beachland Ballroom, the evenings feature local musicians, DJs from campus radio station WRUW-91.1FM, food trucks (of course!) and what they describe as “interactive art experiences.”

This week you can hear Thaddeus Anna Greene, a guitar-focused blues-rock quartet with roots in the classic rock of the ’70s — even though they weren’t born then. Teddy Eisenberg, who hosts freeform program The ’59 Sound at 8am Thursdays, will be DJ’ing. On 7/30, the band will be acoustic indie rockers Meridian, featuring. The DJ will be Bethany Kaufman. The Beat Uptown runs through 8/28.

Like most of the other summer outdoor concerts, it’s free.  And it’s also reduced-admission night at MOCA so you can take in the art as well for only $5.
