You’re not going to want to go to the Grog Shop without your dancing shoes when the Admirables from Akron and Cleveland’s Revolution Brass Band share the stage there. Both bands play instrumental music heavy on the horns but they offer different musical approaches.
The Admirables, led by sax player Nathan Paul Davis who does double duty in the horn section on Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites, play lively soul music that might put you in mind of bands like Booker T & the MGs.
Revolution Brass Band, on the other hand, is all about percussion and horns, with a sound that throws jazz, funk, pop, soul, and New Orleans-style second-line music into the pot and stirs vigorously.
Sitting still? Definitely not on the program this night!
Admission is $10.
