The Secret Soul Club — a group of local DJs who spin a mix of classic soul and garage rock — have put together a blowout evening at the Beachland called the Summer Soul & Garage Revue, dedicated to the music they love.
Headliners Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites alone would assure a successful party with their sweaty, horn-driven classic soul music. But there’s more! The bill also features Parma garage rockers the Alarm Clocks, who existed for an eyeblink in the ’60s before reuniting a couple of years ago.
To balance those old-timers, they’re bringing in two very young acts from out of state: teenage Pittsburgh garage-punk quarter the Nox Boys, and Detroit’s Blaire Alise & the Bombshells, a ’50s/’60s-influenced trio fronted by 17-year-old vocalist/guitarist Alise. Both record for Pittsburgh garage/punk/power pop label Get Hip.
And of course the Secret Soul Club DJs —Partysweat, Alright and Mr. Fishtruck — will be spinning in the ballroom and the tavern.
Admission (both rooms) is $12.
