Cleveland’s Cellar Door Productions offers yet another evening of promising Cleveland acts, this time at the Grog Shop.
At the top of the bill are a couple of bands that specialize in atmospheric, droney but hard-hitting music: Midnight Passenger and NOMADS.
Midnight Passenger, which is promising a new album this fall to follow up the 2011 EP Long Time Waiting, create wall of sound in the traditional way — two guitars, bass and drums, with vocalist Tony Zaro topping things off.
NOMADS rely more heavily on keyboards and synths. Adam Korbesmeyer and Elijah Bisbee form the core of the band, although they augment themselves with other players for live shows. They too are working on a new release, already titled When Those Around Us Leave (You can download a free sample here.) It should give more people a chance to check out the band’s sweeping sound, which takes listeners on a wide-ranging and enticing sonic journey.
Ageless Males, who describe themselves as a “mildly entertaining, mediocre Cleveland band,” and Newshoes are also on the bill.
Admission is $10.
