Cleveland is really going to miss to miss the talented Diana Chittester, who is moving to Portland, Oregon with her partner/manager Jessica Rosenblatt in October.
It’s not her first move though. She came to Cleveland from Pennsylvania and started playing out locals in 2008, rapidly turning heads with her rich, mature vocals that told intensely emotional stories without overdoing it and her fluid, complex guitar playing.
She released her first album, Soul, in 2009, which introduced her forceful, folk-infused music. She released In My Skin in 2012 on her own Fighting Chance label, which she runs with Rosenblatt, and started to do a lot more touring.
She did a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund her latest album Find My Way Home, which she recorded in New Orleans earlier this year with producer Andrew Gilchrist, who has worked with other folk-based artists known for punching up the energy level on folk-based music, like Ani DiFranco, the Indigo Girls, and Hamell on Trial.
Now you can hear the results. She’ll play a CD release party at the Beachland Tavern, where you can snag a copy. Ray Flanagan of Ray Flanagan and the Authorities opens.
She writes, “Most of you know I am relocating to Portland, OR in October. Because of a busy tour schedule I am joining this big day with our “Farewell Party.” This has been an exciting year filled with a lot of work and many successes. My appreciation towards my friends in this area goes beyond what words can express. My plan is to visit CLE every 6 months! So this isn’t farewell forever!”
Hopefully, the title Find My Way Home is a sign she won’t forget Cleveland.
Admission is $10.
