The New Orleans-based Dirty Bourbon River Show reflects the spirit if not always the sound of that city: eclectic, festive, constantly shifting. Starting with American roots music, they funneled in other influences. The result was a steaming gumbo of rock, folk, blues, jazz, gospel, and New Orleans brass band music. Showmanship and goofy humor are a big part of the package too. How many bands do you know who have a song like “Jewish Girls Who Went to Art School Know All the Angles”?
Since making their debut in 2009, the group has slowly spread their wings, doing progressively longer tours that took them further and further from their home base. In the process, they’ve been a prolific recording group, releasing eight studio albums in five years.
The quintet will perform at the Music Box Supper Club. Local vaudeville troupe Punch & Squeal opens.
