PHOTOSTREAM: Ohio Burlesque Festival 4

Fri 8/1-Sat 8/2

For the fourth year, burlesque performers from across the country gathered in Cleveland for the Ohio Burlesque Festival, this year expanded to three days. After an opening evening at Mahall’s in Lakewood, the event moved over to the Beachland, where a full house was treated to dozens of creative performances ranging from Columbus’ Cheri Blondell’s Marilyn Monroe-inspired act to Chicago performance artist Red Rum’s elaborately costumed spooky routine to Boston Baby Dolls trio’s journey from overalls to va-va-voom.

A high point was the evocative performance of festival promoter, Cleveland’s Bella Sin, who performed in the dark in a strategically lighted costume while slides were projected on a screen behind her. Another was Saturday’s headliner, the statuesque Syndi Devereaux, six feet of swaying elegance.

The girls were joined by “boylesque” performers, singers, an acrobatic, a comedian, and a breakdancer for a couple of evenings that featured no dull moments.
