Sonny & the Sunsets have become a favorite over at Mahall’s in Lakewood, where they’ll be returning this week.
Fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Sonny Smith, the band has a goofy, almost amateurish aura about it. The San Francisco quintet rides on Smith’s insinuating vocals, which are ideally matched with the over-the-wall viewpoint in his tunes, bathing them in a curtain of garage-pop sound.
Kicking around five years with multiple personnel changes, they released their latest album Antenna to the Afterworld a little more than a year ago.
Tickets are $6 in advance, $8 day of show.
