The Dreadful Yawns are one of a group of bands that formed the so-called “Davenport Collective,” revolving around a Lakewood recording studio/rehearsal space, with members flowing freely between them.
This one, which plays dreamy psychedelic pop, was fronted by singer/songwriter Ben Gmetro who’s also been in … a lot of other bands. (Currently he plays bass in Extra Medium Pony).
They released a couple of albums on the formerly Cleveland-based Exit Stencil Records back in 2007/2008, then became considerably less active. Its most recent release is Picnic which came out in 2012 on Exit Stencil.
Those who’ve missed their music can catch them at the Beachland Tavern. Motel Bed and Ancestral Pearls open.
Admission is $5.
