Bambi Kino, an indie-rock supergroup of sorts, formed back in 2009 to celebrate the 2010 50th anniversary of the first concerts the Beatles performed in Hamburg Germany. The group, named after the venue at which the Beatles first played, recreated the set list they played back in the day before they took the world by storm with their own tunes. And they played their first gigs in August 2010 at that very venue in Hamburg.
The group has continued to perform and now has another anniversary to celebrate: the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first U.S. tour. They’ll be bringing their show to the Beachland Ballroom 50 years to the month from the Beatles’ first visit to Cleveland.
It’ll be a homecoming of sorts for one of the band members. The quartet includes drummer Ira Elliot of Nada Surf, Maplewood guitarist Mark Rozzo, Cat Power bassist Eric Paparazzi, and Cleveland’s own Doug Gillard, who has played guitar with bands like Death of Samantha, Gem, My Dad Is Dead, Guided By Voices, and Nada Surf in addition to releasing solo material.
Tickets are $15.
