Guide to Kulchur, that funky little bookstore just off Gordon Square which carries an extensive stock of independent press publications and other offbeat and unexpected things, is holding another benefit to fund one of its signature programs. Cleveland Books 2 Prisoners is precisely what it sounds like: the store sends books to those who are incarcerated.
The evening, taking place at Mahall’s, features something old and something new.
False Flag (pictured) is a new post-punk trio that’s sort of a supergroup of local underground rockers. Its members include bassist John Kalman (Roue, Founding Fathers), drummer John Panza (Blaka Watra), and guitarist Aaron Koonce (The Conservatives, Ohio Civil War). Lives of the Saints is another aggressive, punk-based band who broke up in 2006 after kicking around the local club scene for several years. It features This Moment in Black History’s Lawrence Daniel Caswell on vocals.
