Listen in as Cool Cleveland Correspondent Carol Drummond stopped by Tri-C’s Metro Campus recording studio to find out more about Daniel Bernard Roumain’s (DBR) collaboration with local musicians, the creation of their online songbook, and his groundbreaking performance taking place in Cleveland. Tri-C and DBR have embarked on an epic musical journey called Project Gilgamesh. This downloadable songbook which is being created by NEO’s rich musical community is being designed to be used and augmented by anyone with whom it resonates.

Natasha Turovksy says she became a surrealist at the age of three. She started playing violin at age 7 and has performed with her father’s ensemble, I Musici de Montreal until she recently took a leave to focus on her painting. An exhibition of her works kicks off at the Beck Center on Thu 10/13 from 6-9PM.

Shine a Light on Domestic Violence in our Community

Domestic violence has no place in our community! That’s the message of Purple Light Nights, the Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign being hosted by the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center (DVCAC) throughout the month of October.

Purple Light Nights asks the entire Northeast Ohio Community (yes, that means you) to help shine a light on domestic violence, an issue that often happens behind closed doors and whose victims often suffer in silence.

Water Celebration on 10/27

In a savvy partnership with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s Waterkeeper Alliance, Cleveland-based EcoWatch is launching a national 24-hour news service to help unite the voice of the national grassroots environmental movement. EcoWatch.org will generate original content and aggregate news from over 700 grassroots environmental organizations.

Young Professionals Unite

With over 70 Young Professionals organizations in the region, the one thing Northeast Ohio has been missing is a united effort to connect this young talent with jobs, the community, and useful news about the region. A task force spent 6 months talking with over 100 YPs in the area and developed a master plan to raise money for a permanent location, board, and staff that would build partnerships, engage the community and offer technology solutions for the estimated 15,000 young professionals in the region.

The Warehouse District is disappearing… I used to spend a lot of time in Cleveland. When I visit now, I do not miss empty buildings. I like that I can park in front of a great restaurant for lunch before a browns game. I have been in neighborhoods all over recently with lots and lots of empty houses. The feeling, the attitude, the environment is not better for having buildings…
