Wed 11/12 @ noon
Dr. Vivek Murthy served as the 19th and 21st surgeon general of the U.S., first serving President Obama from 2015 until the end of his term and briefly serving under Trump until Trump axed him in April 2017, then serving under President Biden throughout his term in office, after first co-chairing Biden’s COVID advisory board following his 2020 election to prepare for the vaccine rollout. He’s been a voice for the negative outcomes of social media, ranging from the spread of misinformation to its impact on social disconnection and loneliness.
He’ll be addressing that topic when he speaks at the Akron Roundtable on “The Together Project: The Power of Community and Connection.” In conversation with Jeremy Lile, Chief of Leadership and Learning at the Center for Immersive Leadership, he’ll talk about the newly launched Together project that promotes community, service and purpose to improve health and give people a sense of fulfillment.
The event, taking place at Quaker Station, also includes lunch, a networking period and a Q&A. Go here for tickets.
