Fri 12/19 @ 5PM-9PM
It’s the last Third Friday before Christmas so 78th Street Studios is likely to be bustling. In addition to all the artists, galleries and shops offering plenty of original items to buy, Cleveland Bazaar’s last-minute market vendors will be on the Ramp level and the vendors from Northcoast Promotions will be set up as usual too in the first floor Artspace.
There’s always something new each month at 78th Street Studios, and this month, you can meet an artist new to the building celebrating her grand opening in her new studio. Abstract painter Kimberly Engel is a Cleveland Institute of Art graduate who moved from Cleveland to Florida ten years ago — and then moved back last December, just in time for the best Cleveland weather. She’s moved into a space on the ground floor, Unit101B, which can be accessed from the front of the building on the same side as the Derek Hess Gallery. See her work and learn more about her at KimberlyEngel.com or on Instagram.
While there aren’t any big openings, you can visit Suite 215 for the closing reception of Counterpoint, featuring work by painter Dennis Long and photographer Dan Rowland, see the paintings by Australian artist Aubrey Rhodes, continuing in the Kenneth Paul Lesko Gallery; and On the Edge, with work by David King, Kenn Hetzel and Daniel Levin continuing in HEDGE Gallery.
As always Third Friday is free and open to all including well-behaved children and dogs.
