Story Club Cleveland Invites Tales in the Style of Film Noir

Wed 11/12 @ 7PM

Story Club Cleveland is back at the Forest City Brewery in Ohio City this week with a new topic for tale spinners: Noir. That encompasses any story that has the vibe of that classic black & white film genre of the 40s and 50s that involves detectives, dangerous women, shady men and intricate usually crime-related plots in which no one and nothing was what it seemed. But: if you want to tell a story, it has to be true! How exciting is YOUR life?

Here’s how it works. A couple of special guest storytellers get things rolling. This month it’s Deena Myer Mendlowitz and Hazel Young. Then the mic opens to four storytellers who have arrived at 7pm to sign up to share their narrative. (If more than four sign up, names are drawn from a hat.) Each person gets six minutes to tell their story and — here’s switch — it doesn’t have to relate to the month’s topic. Apparently they don’t think a lot of Clevelanders are involved in double-crossing murder plots.

Forest City offers a full bar and menu so come prepared to patronize. Get your tickets here.
