Northeast Ohio jazz trumpet player Dominick Farinacci has come a long way since he was performing as a member of the Tri-C High School Jazz All-Stars. On the recommendation of superstar trumpet player Wynton Marsalis whom he met through the Tri-C Jazzfest, he left Cleveland to go to school at New York’s Juilliard School as a member of its first jazz studies class.
Now it’s Farinacci’s turn to mentor young musicians, when he’s not performing around the world, in workshops, camps and classes such as the Tri-C JazzFest Academy program which he directs. His Spirit of the Groove project features some of the most talented and dedicated young musicians from the academy who have committed to pursuing jazz in college. Come see Farinacci present possible future jazz stars in the upcoming edition of Spirit of the Groove, taking place at Market Garden Brewery.
