Area Artists Join Bethesda For New Music Release @MOCACleveland

Thu 6/19 @ 8PM

Akron folk-rockers Bethesda made a splash last year with their second full-length album Reunion. Although the band had been together five years (now six), that release moved them from the margins of the local scene to its center with headline slots at numerous local festivals. They even began to attract some attention out of town with some regional touring and slots at showcase events like South by Southwest in Austin and CMJ in New York.

The band’s tuneful music, featuring Shanna Delaney’s bright, warm vocals, is upbeat without being overpowering. Accented with banjo and fiddle, it’s congenial without having a rustic feel.

The band isn’t dropping another full album yet, but they’re ready to make a splash with some new music. They’re headlining a party at MOCA in which they’ve invited dancers, actors, poets, filmmakers, and visual artists to participate with multimedia works that respond to the new songs the band will be debuting.

They sent the lyrics to artists who expressed an interest to submit proposals. The chosen artists are now creating the pieces that will be part of the evening.

Doors open at 7pm. Cleveland newgrass trio plays at 8pm; Bethesda takes the stage at 9.

Admission is $8; MOCA members are free.
