Artists at the Twist Hold Spring Open House

Sun 5/5 @ noon-5PM

When word stated to get out several years ago that the Artcraft Building, home to a large colony of local artists, was going to be sold a group of them started hatching plans to move en masse. While the original plan to turn the building into apartments fell through and the building is now being remodeled to become police headquarters for the City of Cleveland, that group of artists had already found a new home at the Twist Drill Building not too far away. They were joined there by other artists and businesses and the building is now an almost-full hive of creative activities.

One again, the Artists at the Twist, as they call themselves, are hosting an open studios event. On this afternoon, you can stop in the building (the elevator is much more efficient than the ones at Artcraft!) and visit 25 artists’ workspaces — 17 from the Artists at the Twist collective as well as eight additional artists who also work on the fifth floor. If you ever tried to navigate the ticked-away spaces at Artcraft, you’ll find this much easier! The artists will be on hand to talk about and sell their work: painting, prints, ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, photography, sculpture, soaps, candles and more.

It’s free and open to all — and handicapped accessible. There are two free parking lots and plenty of street parking as well.
