Celebrity Chef Headlines Benefit for County Library System

Thu 5/2 @ 7-8PM

Once upon a time, the words “celebrity” and “chef” rarely went together unless a certain chef became known for a restaurant so trendy that all the celebrities went there — Places such as Elaine’s in New York City, run for four decades by the legendary Elaine Kauffman. Reality Tv changed all that with its endless a parade of competitions in virtually every aspect of cooking and restaurant-running.

New York-based chef Rocco DiSpirito had been running a restaurant in that city for nearly a decade when reality TV came calling, launching him on a TV career that found him hosting or participating in a series of shows, both food related and not.  His fame also fueled a series of cookbooks, many of them centered on losing weight.

So it’s appropriate that when DiSpirito comes to the Parma Snow Library to headline a fundraiser called Books & Bites for the Cuyahoga County Public Library, he’ll be in conversation with another Rocco — Cleveland’s own celebrity chef Rocco Whalen, proprietor of Fahrenheit, who also once took part in a weight loss TV show featuring chefs.

Tickets include the talk, a copy of DiSpirito’s new cookbook Everyday Delicious, and a post-talk book signing. There’s also a VIP tickets which includes a 5pm reception with food and drinks from EDWINS, a silent auction, VIP seating for the talk and a gift bag.
