Nature-Friendly Groups Hold Their Annual Plant Sales

Sat 5/11 & Sun 5/12 @ 10AM-4PM (Crown Point)

Sat 5/18 @ 10AM-4PM (Crown Point)

Sat 5/11 @11AM-3PM (Shaker Lakes)

The plant sales start coming hot and heavy now, with two prominent nature-related organizations hosting events this weekend. The Crown Point Ecology Center in Akron, which works toward sustainable land use, is hosting a two-day sale this Saturday May 11 and Sunday May 12 and a one-day sale next weekend on Saturday May 18. There you’ll find plenty of native perennials to plant gardens that support the local biosystem, as well as heirloom and hybrid vegetables and culinary herbs for your kitchen garden, and organic gardening supplies. Everything is organic and non-GMO, and there’ll be volunteers on hand to answer questions and help you pick the plants you need.

The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes has its annual one-day plant sale on Saturday May 11 @ 11AM-3PM, where you’ll find what they say is the area’s largest selection of both common and hard-to-find native plants, perennials, annuals and vegetable starters.

Both places have early member hours on Saturday May 11 before the doors open to the public so there’s a benefit to joining and helping support these nonprofit nature groups.
