Relive the ’80s When the Retro Futura Tour Comes to Town

Mon 8/25 @ 7PM

It’s time to tease and spray your hair into a gravity-defying shape and get out those colorful clothes influenced by the early days of MTV. (You can still fit into them, right?)

It’ll be 1985 all over again when the Retro Futura tour hits town at the Masonic Auditorium. It’s definitely retro, although it’s unclear what the “futura” part is.

Dig in your memory bank and pull out the quirky electro-rock trio the Thompson Twins (“Hold Me Now,” “Lies,” “Doctor Doctor”), led by singer/keyboard player Tom Bailey (pictured). Then reach in again and recall slender, golden-haired Howard Jones alone on stage at Blossom Music Center (headlining!) amidst his giant bank of synthizers playing hits like “What Is Love?”, “Things Can Only Get Better,” and “No One Is To Blame.”

Bailey and Jones will be co-headlining this walk down memory lane, which also includes Midge Ure of Ultravox (does the term “new romantics” still mean anything to you?), Katrina Leskanich of Katrina & the Waves whose infectious hit “Walking on Sunshine” was one of THE songs of 1985, and Liverpool’s China Crisis, who enjoyed some success in England but never really broke out in the U.S.

Tickets are $18-$80.
