Cuban Pianist/Composer Omar Sosa Brings his Trio to the Cleveland Museum of Art

Wed 9/10 @ 7:30-9PM

Cuban jazz pianist and composer Omar Sosa, now 60, has moved around a lot, picking up new cultural influences and audiences. He’s lived in Ecuador, California, and currently in Barcelona, Spain, and had the opportunity to collaborate with many other musicians. But he’s carried the Afro-Cuban/Latin jazz influences with him wherever he’s gone. He’s released some three dozen albums and been nominated for Grammys seven times. And he’s the subject of a new documentary called Omar Sosa’s 88 Well-Tuned Drums.

He’s currently leading a new trio, featuring Cuban-American sax player Yosvany and Brooklyn-based drummer Julian Miltenberger. That trio will perform at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium. Go here for tickets.
